A recent research, conducted in Iranian Medical University Shahid Sadoughi, has shown that cumin, besides being used as a spice and medicine for a long time it can also be used as a fighter against excess pounds.
The study has shown that by consuming just one teaspoon of cumin per day can improve the process of weight loss. This amazing spice can also lower bad cholesterol level and reduce fat.
The study has involved 88 women. These women were divided into two separate groups. Both groups consumed 500 less calories on a daily basis for three whole months. However, one group additionally consumed yogurt in combination with one teaspoon of cumin. This group has showed better results when it comes to losing weight.
The participants in this group turned out to have lower cholesterol levels and less body fat.
Cumin is a spice rich in phytosterols. This is a substance which reduces absorption of cholesterol in the body. The authors of this study claim that cumin has the ability to speed up metabolism.
Besides with yogurt, you can combine cumin with salads or various sauces.
