If lion is the king of jungle, then cherimoya is king of the fruit. It dates back to ancient Incas and it is so good that in the past only the rulers had the privilege of consuming it. It is known also known under the name custard apple. When it comes to the taste, the fruit’s taste is a blend of coconut, banana, pineapple and papaya.

Cherimoya is the name of the fruit from the tree Anona Cherimoya. It comes from the Andes in South America. Cherimoya grows in subtropical areas around the world, and the largest commercial exporter is Spain. This super fruit grows at an altitude of 1500 meters and can grow up to 8 meters in height.

Custard apple has tropical prickly yellow-green bark. The inside, or edible part, is consisted of white meat that is eaten with a spoon after you cut the fruit in half. You can sprinkle it with lime juice and thus consume it. However, it is best to enjoy the unique taste while not adding anything further.

Cherimoya is rich in vitamin C, B1, B2, iron, calcium and phosphorus. It can help in health problems such as inflamed bladder and kidneys.

Fruits are harvested while still solid and mature at room temperature. When the fruit is ripe, it softens same as the kiwi and avocado. You can use it in various salads or as an additive in various dishes.
