Redness, swelling and itching of the eyes are very common nowadays. These symptoms usually occur as a result of insomnia, often sitting in front of computer and television, due to a weak immune system or allergies. Unpleasant symptoms “red eyes” can be reduced by using the following household products.
Mix 3 tablespoons of honey with two cups of boiling water or milk. Allow the mixture to cool slightly and then put a few drops in the red eye two or three times a day. Also, the redness can be reduced if you dip a cotton gauze in this liquid, then use it as liner in the eye.
Mix 2 tablespoons of turmeric in powder form with 200 ml of water. Use this mixture as liner on the affected eye. Turmeric is a classified product in the list of natural antibiotics which treat inflammation in any part of the body.
Put the fennel seed into some water and het it up a little. You can use this warm liquid as liner in order to get rid of the redness in your eyes.
Cut a piece of potato and place it onto the affected eye. Hold it there for at least 20 minutes. Repeat this procedure at least three days or until there is no more redness into your eye(s).
- Baking soda
Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with 200 ml of water. Use this solution as a means of coatings. This preparation will reduce redness, swelling and irritation of the eyes.
- Aloe vera
Take clean gauze, place some aloe gel onto it and place it on the affected eye. Because of its countless health benefits, aloe is one of the best products you can use if you want to get rid of redness in the eyes.
- Warm and cold coatings
Warm coatings will reduce your swollen eye and the cold ones will alleviate the redness of the eye. Warning: Use separate coating for both of the eyes in order to stop the infection from spreading.
